Lidor Sofer, a ZAKA volunteer, arrived this morning at the scene of the terror attack on Highway 55 near Kedumim, where three people were murdered. The scene triggered chilling memories for him: his father, Shalom Sofer, was murdered in a stabbing attack at the exact same location two years ago.
Despite the personal pain and the painful memories, Lidor chose to come to the scene and carry out his mission of treating the bodies with respect and handling the difficult findings. “Standing in this place again and confronting the horrific sights is not easy,” Lidor shared. “But my mission outweighs everything, even the personal pain.”
The Police Commissioner, who was present at the scene, met Lidor and heard from him about the personal tragedy he experienced. In a touching moment, the Commissioner hugged him and expressed his deep appreciation for his dedication and the strength he demonstrates.
Lidor added a personal message: “Pain and loss are part of our lives, but we choose to turn them into a strength that drives us to help others. This mission gives me hope and strength to continue, even in the toughest moments.”
