An Israeli woman, approximately 70 years old, was tragically killed in a car accident in New Zealand, in a parking lot near a harbor.

Upon receiving the report, ZAKA’s International Unit immediately began working with local authorities and diplomatic officials, in cooperation with Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to complete the necessary procedures and ensure her swift return to Israel for burial.

The local Chabad emissary, Rabbi Avraham Rosenberg, is assisting the family and coordinating closely with ZAKA’s International Unit and local authorities.

Chaim Winingarten, ZAKA’s Deputy Director of Operations, said:
“This is a very painful incident. The couple had exited their vehicle on their way to board a ship. The deceased returned to the parking lot to retrieve her mobile phone from the car, and while there, she was struck by a vehicle leaving the area and was killed at the scene. ZAKA Lachish Region Operations Officer Yossi Landau and the International Unit team are accompanying the family and working with all relevant authorities in New Zealand and Israel to expedite her return for burial in Israel.”
