ZAKAโs Hosen Division – the organizationโs Emergency and Emotional Support Unit – hosted a therapeutic diving resilience workshop for its volunteers. The goal: to provide emotional relief and strengthen personal resilience through the healing power of the sea.
Combining guided scuba diving with structured group reflection, the workshop offered participants emotional tools to regulate stress, process trauma, and rediscover their inner strength. In the calm of the underwater world, free from the noise of daily crises, volunteers reconnected with themselves and each other.
โThis is part of our ongoing mission to care for the emotional wellbeing of our volunteers,โ said Vered Atzmon-Meshulam, Head of the Hosen Division. โThose who serve in the most difficult scenes deserve the same compassion and care they offer others.โ
Oz Avizov, Director of the Hosen Division and lead diving instructor, shared:
โThere is something deeply therapeutic about diving. The breathing, the silence, the deep focus – it creates space for emotional healing and resilience building.โ
This workshop is part of ZAKAโs broader commitment to caring for the mental and emotional health of its volunteers, especially those exposed to traumatic scenes on a regular basis.
Chaim Weingarten, ZAKAโs Director of Operations, added:
โI want to thank the Hosen Division for their holy work, and diving instructors Oz Avizov and Raz Zada, as well as Sasha Gershman and the Snuba Dive Center team, for stepping in after the outbreak of the Iron Swords War to offer this powerful experience to our volunteers.โ
