A devastating tragedy occurred in Mexico: a four-year-old Israeli boy from Jerusalem drowned on Saturday after falling into a swimming pool at a hotel in San José del Cabo, Mexico, while vacationing with his family. Tragically, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Upon receiving the report at ZAKA International Unit’s emergency hotline (1220), ZAKA immediately began coordinating with the relevant authorities and officials in Mexico and assisting the family with all necessary arrangements.

After local authorities requested that a post-mortem examination be conducted, ZAKA’s efforts succeeded in preventing the autopsy, and the child’s body was released. At this time, ZAKA’s International Unit is assisting the family and working with the relevant authorities to complete the necessary procedures and bring the child’s body to Israel for burial as soon as possible.

After the autopsy was prevented and the child’s body was released, we are now working with the relevant authorities in Mexico to complete the necessary procedures and bring him to Israel for burial as soon as possible.”
