After extensive preparations and a wide-scale logistical operation, ZAKA successfully completed its operation at Mount Meron during the Lag B’Omer pilgrimage honoring Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai (Hilula 5785). The event concluded safely and without major incidents.
Dozens of children who had lost contact with their parents were quickly located and safely returned, thanks to ZAKA’s PA systems and the child ID bracelets distributed at ZAKA stations.
Thousands of participants visited ZAKA’s on-site support centers, received child ID bracelets, and benefitted from vital assistance – including mobile charging stations, a lost and found service, and the distribution of tens of thousands of water bottles to prevent dehydration.
Many lost items were also returned to their owners through ZAKA’s efficient lost and found station.
ZAKA’s operations on Mount Meron, under the command of Rabbi Anshel Friedman, Northern District Commander, provided around-the-clock assistance with the support of dozens of dedicated volunteers, including services extended into Shabbat for pilgrims who remained on the mountain.
Chaim Weingarten, ZAKA’s Deputy Director of Operations:
“We were privileged to assist thousands of pilgrims using ZAKA’s services – the ID bracelets, the lost and found, and child reunification efforts. This is our sacred mission: to ensure the public’s safety at every moment.”
ZAKA extends its sincere thanks to the public for their cooperation and to the thousands of pilgrims who visited the stations and used the organization’s life-saving services.
