MK Galit Distel-Atbrian organized an emotional event in honor of the Haredi charitable organizations to recognize their important and dedicated work for society in Israel.

Representatives from ZAKA who attended the event included Rabbi Yosef Shwinger, a member of the management, Deputy Director of Operations Chaim Wengarten, district and city commanders, along with dozens of dedicated volunteers from the organization, who devoted their time and efforts to life-saving activities and honoring the deceased.

At the highlight of the event, a special panel took place, hosted by Oded Menashe, featuring representatives from the various rescue and charity organizations. On behalf of ZAKA, Avi Deri, Commander of ZAKA Lachish District, participated and shared his experiences from the days of the war and the challenging work in the Gaza envelope and kibbutzim. He also mentioned that his daughter gave birth to a son in the early days of the war, and he barely had time to visit her and meet his newborn grandson.

Chaim Wengarten, Deputy Director of Operations, also addressed the event, speaking about the organization’s work during the days of the “Iron Swords” war: “In the first days of the war, ZAKA volunteers devotedly went down to the kibbutzim and the Gaza envelope, working day and night in the field to grant a final honor to the holy martyrs, may their memory be a blessing. We are proud of the volunteers who demonstrated immense strength of spirit and mutual responsibility during the hardest moments.”

MK Atbrian addressed the volunteers, saying: “The Haredi charitable organizations are a symbol of mutual responsibility in Israeli society. The dedication and mission demonstrated by thousands of ZAKA volunteers during the war, and their everyday work, are a model of humanity and true kindness, for the living and for the deceased.”
