To maintain operational readiness and ensure preparedness for any scenario, ZAKA volunteers participated overnight in a joint rescue exercise with the IDF Home Front Command, simulating complex disaster response operations at a collapsed site.
During the drill, volunteers practiced advanced rescue techniques in challenging field conditions. They also trained in operating a fatality collection station, and used ZAKA’s specialized digital documentation app designed to aid in the identification process and ensure the dignified treatment of the deceased.
Chaim Weingarten, ZAKA Deputy Director of Operations, stated:
“We make use of quieter periods to maintain our operational and professional readiness—for both wartime and earthquake scenarios. The longstanding cooperation with the Home Front Command is a critical professional foundation for ZAKA volunteers. We pray that the knowledge and experience gained will be used only in training and preparation—not in real events.”
