Chaim Otemzgin, Commander of ZAKA’s Special Units, and Nachman Dikshtain, Commander of ZAKA Europe, led a special tour this week in the Gaza Envelope settlements for ambassadors from the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Hungary, Kenya, Cameroon at the UN, and the Israeli Ambassador to the UN in Geneva.
The meeting, organized by the Center for Jewish Impact, provided the ambassadors with a chilling testimony of the horrors of October 7th. During the testimony, the ambassadors watched real-time footage captured by Otemzgin, vividly illustrating the brutality and murders committed by Hamas militants.
The tour was led by ZAKA commanders who, along with hundreds of volunteers, risked their lives under fire to save and honor the deceased.
ZAKA volunteers operated in the Gaza Envelope from the first moments of the murderous attack. They entered the burnt-out settlements, destroyed homes, and the horrific murder scenes – with one goal: to save the living and give the deceased a proper burial.
Chaim Otemzgin said: “Although many months have passed, we will never stop testifying and telling our story. We saw atrocities that are difficult to digest – entire families brutally murdered, small children burned alive, family members forced to watch the murder of their loved ones before being killed themselves. Hamas did not stop at killing – they tortured, abused, and desecrated. ZAKA volunteers were in these scenes with one mission: to bring a dignified burial to those who lost their lives in the cruelest ways.”
Nachman Dikshtain added: “I told the ambassadors about the scenes I arrived at when the blood was still fresh, the smell of death was in the air, and destruction was screaming from every corner. In some places, the terrorists left ‘signatures’ on the walls of homes; in other places, bodies lay in the open for days. What we experienced here is not a story that should remain within the borders of Israel – the world must see, know, and act.”
The ambassadors who participated in the tour expressed deep shock and horror at the testimonies and footage. Although they had heard about the atrocities from the media, this time they experienced something that made it hard to conceal their emotions. “We heard about what happened, but we weren’t prepared for what we saw here,” said one of the ambassadors. “These images will stay with us forever – and the world must acknowledge these horrors and take action.”
The tour, organized by the Center for Jewish Impact, is part of an ongoing effort to bring the terrifying testimonies of the terrorist attack to the world’s attention, ensuring the truth is fully exposed.
