Ukraine War 2022
“Chaos in the Conflict Zone”
ZAKA volunteers responded to the outbreak of war in Ukraine with the same expertise and commitment that has defined their missions worldwide. From the earliest days of the conflict, they worked on the ground to rescue civilians trapped in dangerous areas, evacuating them under constant threat of attacks. ZAKA paramedic teams brought specialized rescue and recovery equipment to offer immediate assistance and reassurance to anyone in need.
Collaborating with local organizations, ZAKA spearheaded efforts to bring Jewish community members to safety in Israel—often arranging travel documents, securing routes through hostile regions, and ensuring refugees had proper accommodations once they arrived. Tragically, not all journeys ended in joyful reunions, but ZAKA volunteers persisted, locating and recovering victims so that their loved ones could receive closure.
Through it all, the ZAKA teams exemplified tireless devotion and swift action. Their compassionate resolve and readiness to take on risk in Ukraine reflect the organization’s steadfast mission to save lives and honor every individual—no matter the circumstances.
