ZAKA’s Air Unit extends our lifesaving reach into the skies, harnessing the power of drone technology to locate missing persons quickly and effectively. Comprised of volunteers who bring their personal aircraft and drone equipment, this specialized team provides an invaluable bird’s-eye view during search and rescue missions—especially in rugged, expansive, or otherwise inaccessible areas.
Using advanced aerial scanning and thermal imaging, the Air Unit supports ground teams in locating individuals who are lost, injured, or stranded in emergency situations. Whether assisting in disasters, terror incidents, or wide-ranging search operations, these volunteers communicate real-time visual data to ZAKA command centers. In doing so, they save precious time—often the difference between life and death.
A rapid, coordinated response is at the heart of ZAKA’s mission. By integrating aerial intelligence with on-the-ground professionalism and compassion, the Air Unit embodies our core values of sanctity of life, volunteerism, unity, and proficiency in rescue. Their efforts ensure that no matter where a person may be found, ZAKA can help bring them to safety or, in the most tragic cases, provide closure to families.
Like every ZAKA unit, the Air Unit exists solely because of the generosity of donors worldwide. Your support allows us to acquire and maintain cutting-edge technology, train dedicated volunteers, and perform urgent missions without delay. By contributing, you help uphold ZAKA’s promise to reach those in need—wherever they may be.
