Through a pioneering partnership with the IDF Home Front Command, hundreds of ZAKA volunteers have become certified rescuers, trained to assist the national Home Front Command rescue unit during large-scale disasters. Their work encompasses both Israeli and international deployments, from natural catastrophes to terror incidents—wherever saving lives demands skilled, immediate action.

Mission and Professionalism

In addition to routine day-to-day readiness, these rescuers conduct annual exercises to maintain top-tier preparedness. They have worked shoulder to shoulder with Home Front Command soldiers at numerous high-profile disaster sites, including the Ashkelon chimney collapse, the Versailles wedding hall tragedy, and the Maccabiah bridge disaster. This hands-on experience, coupled with rigorous training, solidifies the unit’s reputation for professionalism under pressure.
