The ZAKA Resilience Unit is a vital part of ZAKAโs mission to support both the living and the dead. After terror attacks, accidents, or natural disasters, the trauma left behind is often invisibleโbut just as real. This unit steps in to offer immediate and long-term emotional support to grieving families, survivors, and ZAKAโs own volunteers.
Made up of trauma specialists, psychologists, and trained volunteers, the Resilience Unit provides crisis intervention on-site and ongoing mental health care. From guiding families through shock and grief to helping them navigate painful bureaucratic processes, the unit ensures no one faces tragedy alone.
The unit also supports ZAKAโs first responders, who are regularly exposed to traumatic scenes. By caring for those who care for others, the Resilience Unit helps preserve the emotional strength of our teams so they can continue their sacred work.
Beyond emergency response, the Resilience Unit offers workshops, counseling, and resilience training in communities across Israel and around the world. Their mission is to turn trauma into healing and ensure that emotional recovery is part of every rescue effort.
